The MitiGator And Pumping Iron

A complete weight training workout can be perf...

Strength and conditioning training has gained popularity in recent years as Americans look to fight the growing problem of obesity.  Weight training is deemed by many in the medical field as one the best ways, combined with a healthy diet, to lose body fat and reduce the risk of heart disease.

Weight training has also gained relevance in the sports field as trainers in most professional and amateur sports emphasize weight training to build muscle and speed while improving performance out on the field.  With all the benefits of weight training there are also negatives. Weight training, if done incorrectly, can lead to serious injury such as lower back and joint problems.

When engaging in core exercises like squats, dead lifts, and power cleans, your working a variety of muscles that if done correctly can lead to muscle growth. If done with poor posture and form the exercises can be counter productive leaving you with a sore back rather than bigger muscles. Proper form combined with the right equipment can lead to great results.

The MitiGator Cushioning System developed by Seas Group can be applied to weight lifting equipment such as the handles of barbells and dumbbells. The MitiGator provides improved grip allowing the weight lifter to lift more weight thus stimulating the muscle in the process.

The material is light weight and comes in a number of designs giving the MitiGator flexibility to be placed on a wide range of weight lifting equipment from dumbbells to Smith Machines.  If you have any questions or would like to place an order please click on the media link below.

New 1001 MitiGator Uses Video: Batting Gloves

Here is our new video for 1001 MitiGator Uses! In this video I’m demonstrating how the MitiGator can be applied to batting gloves and baseball bats. You’ll notice I’m taking some swings at a local batting cage. I forgot to bring my helmet so I had the use an in-house helmet which had a face guard on it. It made it a little difficult to see the ball but I was able to get some solid contact while using the MitiGator! Visit our YouTube channel 1001 MitiGator Uses to watch all of our videos demonstrating the MitiGator.

The MitiGator And The Future of Space Travel

The Space Shuttle Columbia makes its 18th land...

Image via Wikipedia

After 30 years of service, NASA’s space shuttle fleet will be retired marking the end of on era for space exploration.  The space shuttle was a technological marvel that will forever change the way humans travel to space.

Now with the shuttle retired, there is much concern over America’s ability to travel to space. For the time being NASA will have to rely on Russian rockets to transport American astronauts to space. With huge budget deficits and a struggling economy, budget cuts will most likely affect NASA’s ability to develop another orbiter anytime soon. This means that private industry will take the lead in space flight.

Companies like Virgin Atlantic have already developed commercial spacecraft that will soon transport passengers to space. The price tag for a ticket is hefty starting at $200,000. Once commercial spaceflight becomes commonplace, prices will eventually drop. As private industry takes the lead in space flight, new technologies must be developed to make space travel safe, efficient, cost effective, and comfortable.

The rigors of space travel pushes the human body to the limit. This is why astronaut training is one of the most intense training programs in the world. So companies like Virgin Atlantic and others must focus on safety and maximum comfort when developing spacecraft. Cushioning systems equipped in seats, arms rests, and other spacecraft features must be able to cope with violent vibrations, g-forces, re-entry, and weightlessness that a spacecraft will undergo when traveling to and from space.

The MitiGator cushioning system  by Sea Systems Group is specifically designed to absorb impacts ranging from improvised explosive devices to other elements found in land, sea, and air. The MitiGator is lightweight, flame resistant, durable, and long lasting making it an ideal material for space travel. With the end of one era, marks the beginning of another. The shuttle is a technological triumph that will have a lasting impact on future technologies. The era of private space flight has begun.

Pilots And Lower Back Pain

Marine AH-1 SuperCobra type of aircraft flown ...

Image via Wikipedia

Lower back pain is one of the most common ailments that Americans suffer from today. There are a number of factors that contribute to back pain. Bad posture, obesity, poor nutrition, etc.

The problem of lower back pain is also an issue in the aviation industry, more specifically with military and commercial pilots.  Pilots are just as susceptible to lower back pain then the general population due of the nature of their work. Pilots must be confined to a cockpit for hours on end without having the chance to get up and stretch their muscles. Military pilots, especially fighter pilots, engage in high speed aerobatic maneuvers that can put a tremendous amount of stress on the body.

We must also not forget helicopter pilots whose backs are abused due to the vibrations caused by a helicopter’s rotor blades. A 2000 study conducted by the  Flight Safety Foundation reported that a good portion of helicopter and military pilots suffered from lower back pain.

Of 131 Australian military helicopter pilots responding to a 69-question survey, 16 percent reported back pain associated with flying, 28 percent reported ‘back discomfort’ and 39 percent reported ‘occasional’ back pain. Eighty-five percent of those who reported back pain while flying said that their ailment was related to flying and almost one-third said that flying was detrimental to their health.”

The study also indicated that 13 percent of all U.S. Naval Aviators suffered from lower back pain.  It’s difficult to determine if flying is the sole reason why many pilots suffer from lower back problems. The Flight Safety Foundation study admits this.  However the intense conditions of flying certainly don’t help.

One of the best ways to reduce lower back pain is to equip pilot seats with a proper cushioning system such as the MitiGator. The MitiGator was originally designed for the Cobra attack helicopter and is currently equipped in a number of military and civilian vehicles.

The MitiGator is designed to absorb impacts and vibrations from outside forces. In the case of flying, the MitiGator can protect pilots from the vibrations caused by turbulence, advanced maneuvers, high speeds, and frequent touchdown and landings.  Of course there are other things pilots can do to treat lower back pain such as proper exercise, stretching, good posture, and healthy eating habits.  A combination of protective seating and a healthy lifestyle can help pilots reduce the chance of injury while flying in either military or commercial aircraft.

New YouTube Site For MitiGator!

Seas Group has just filmed its first video for our new YouTube site “1001 Uses for MitiGator”.  The videos we’ll be creating will deal with practical and impractical uses for the MitiGator. We’ll be conducting demonstrations on various uses showing how the MitiGator will protect the body from impacts.

What’s great about our new site is that we encourage outside participation, meaning that we want your thoughts and ideas on what the MitiGator can be used for. If we find an idea that we like, we’ll do a video demonstrating your idea. Your questions and thoughts are important to us because we want to develop the best product possible. The success of MitiGator depends on your feedback.  If you have any ideas or questions on the MitiGator, please click on the media lick below to contact us.
