The Death of Dan Wheldon

Over the weekend Indy racer Dan Wheldon died in a horrific car crash at Las Vegas Motor Speedway that will be remembered as one the most terrible racing tragedies in recent memory.

Fellow racers and fans were shocked and saddened by Wheldons’ untimely death. His death is reminiscent of the passing of another famous racer, Dale Earnhardt, who died during a NASCAR race in 2001.

An autopsy performed on Weldon showed that he died from head injuries(blunt force trauma)when his vehicle went airborne ejecting the cockpit into the crash fence.

After the tragedy, there has been intense debate on whether the spectacular crash in Las Vegas could have been averted. NASCAR champ Jimmy Johnson says that Indy cars should not be racing on ovals. ” I wouldn’t run them on ovals. There’s just no need to. Those cars are fantastic for street circuits, for road courses, etc.”said Johnson.

There is no doubt that Indy Car and NASCAR will make significant improvements on vehicles and equipment to further reduce the risk of serious injury or death. Wheldon’s death serves as a chilling reminder just how dangerous race car driving is. Our hearts and prayers go out to Dan Wheldon’s family and friends.

Keep letting us know how we can help make your job, sport, or leisure time safer

This year we have found many applications for MitiGator. One was this ATV seat, the difference between a MitiGator equipped seat and one without was tremendous!

As we get ready for the PRI show in Orlando Florida on December 9-12, I wanted to remind all of the visitors to this site that we still would like to know how we can help you. MitiGator is designed to absorb and dissipate impact and vibrations, it is a perfect solution if you have problems like back pain from riding on a motorcycle all day. We can build a seat that has MitiGator built into the seat, that will absorb the bumps and vibrations from the road and engine.

So far this year we have put MitiGator in ATV Seats, Marine Seating, Motorcycle gloves and Boots, PWC seats and flooring, and the list could go on. You can read more about how we are also involved in the Military on this page. So check out our website and then make sure you send me a email (John@MitiGatorinc.com) and let us know how we can make MitiGator help you and take the pain out of what you enjoy.

MitiGator Ford Fusion closes out the season with its 7th top ten finish of 2010

The MitiGator Ford Fusion would finish the year with 7 top ten finishes and 3 top 5 finishes.

This past weekend at South Boston Speedway, the MitiGator Ford Fusion was in action at the Strutmasters.com 300. Hopes were high as the team had qualified 2nd earlier in the year at the small bull-ring. After working on the car in practice the MitiGator Ford would end up being 5th fastest on the sheets. However an early draw in qualifying would hurt the team and the car would only be able to post the 11th fastest time in qualifying.

Once the race started the sun had came out and the handling had changed drastically. The MitiGator Ford just wouldn’t turn, The team would work on the car throughout the race but the Gibson Motorsports crew just wouldn’t get the breaks it needed to be able to contend for the win. It would have to settle for a 7th place finish. It would be the team’s 7th top ten finish! The off-season is upon the Statesville, N.C. based team, and up next for the team will be to take a couple of weeks off before starting to prepare for the 2011 season.

MitiGatorinc.com to do a live webcast from South Boston Speedway this Saturday

This past season can easily be described as a rollercoaster ride for the MitiGator Ford Fusion. The season started out strong with a third place finish at Gresham Motorsports Park and then a second place finish at New Smyrna Speedway. Throughout the rest of the season it would encounter some bad luck but also tack on a 4th place finish and a 6th place run.

The Gibson Motorsports team will return to South Boston Speedway this coming weekend and look to pick up where it left off in June. The MitiGator Ford was running in 2nd place when transmission troubles knocked it out of the event. The season finale will kick off Saturday November 6th at 2:00. We will be doing another live webcast from atop of the Gibson Motorsports pit box. We will be featuring live team audio communications from the Gibson Motorsports crew! Make sure you tune in, but if your going to be in the area come out to South Boston Speedway and watch the MitiGator Ford try to bring home the checkered flag.
