Team Mitigator Race Team has a Tough Weekend

Team Mitigator, the maker of Extreme Sports Protection Systems, had a very eventful weekend, just not what we expected.  So the weekend was suppose to be filled with cheers and people having champagne being poured over their heads in victory, but this weekend proved to be, not quite what we had anticipated.  It started off with Team Mitigator’s Auto Racing Team having mechanical problems on Lap 12 with smoke billowing out of the rear of the car.  It was unclear what the problem was and Team Mitigator Car 13 went into the pits to see if they could resolve the issue.  They could not and therefore never made it back out onto the track.

On Sunday, Team Mitigator’s Offshore Racing Team took to the beautiful waters of Miami Beach to continue on with its win out of Maryland.  Warren Miller, Team Mitigator’s Driver/Owner of the Mitigator Boat,  had the boat configured for rough seas and the initial glance at water conditions were that of calm seas which gave some concern to how well Team Mitigator would place.  On Race Day Team Mitigator was heading out to the starting point of the when it was hit by a rough wave which caused water to flow into the exhaust and created what is called a “Hydro Lock”, water flowing into the engine and the engine shutting down.  At first look, it was assumed that the battery had taken a hit and cracked but that was not the case as Warren later found out.  The boat had to be towed in and Team Mitigator was never able to start the race.

In High Performance racing, these land and sea vehicle’s are highly sophisticated and very sensitive pieces of engineering marvels.  The fact that these drivers and their equipment is driven to the edge of their maximum performance, and the constant “tweaking” to get that last bit of horse power out of them, eventually leads to breakdown, it happens with every race team.

So although Team Mitigator had a tough weekend, we would like to thank all the sponsors of the 3rd Annual SIB Offshore Powerboat Challenge.  We will see you next year, same place but with a vengeance in our bones!

Gibson Motorsports hits the track for the first time in 2010

It was a cold morning yesterday at Hickory Motor Speedway. But we needed to get out and test the #13 Mitigator Ford Fusion that is going to be used at the Nascar Legends race on March 20th. We ended the 2009 season on such a run of good finishes that we were sad to see it end. But we are hoping that we can carry that momentum into 2010. Our season kicks off March 27th at Gresham Motorsports Park.

Up next is the a test session at Bristol Motor Speedway. Bristol is the world’s fastest half-mile. We are going to be shooting some video from inside the car and from the track to show you a unique perspective of the high banks of Bristol. Check back here on Monday to see the video from the test.

Enjoy the video!

Team Mitigator Signs on for another Year of Supporting Gibson Motorsports

MitiGator commits to 2010 sponsorship of Gibson Motorsports

Gibson Motorsports is excited and proud to announce that MitiGator, the primary sponsor of USA Racing Pro Cup driver, John Gibson during the last half of 2009, has signed on to sponsor John for the 2010 season.

Barbara McKinney, President of Sea Systems Group (SEAS) said “We are pleased to be the primary sponsor of John Gibson Motorsports for 2010.  As we get better acquainted, our relationship with them continues to grow beyond USAR Pro Cup sponsorship.  SEAS and Gibson are jointly working to develop and evaluate innovative new MitiGator products for the motorsports industry.  We have high hopes that “Team MitiGator Racing” and www.mitigatorinc.com will evolve into a new business unit that has an impact on all types of motorsports from asphalt and dirt to off-road and offshore.”

MitiGator is an engineered cushioning system designed to protect people from hi-speed, hi-impact assaults and to allow them to continue to perform their jobs or enjoy their leisure time.  The MitiGator uses patented air control technology working with 4,044 surfaces per square foot to dissipate energy before it is transmitted to the body and thus help alleviate problems.

“We are so excited about MitiGator’s involvement,” said John Gibson.  “The product is fantastic, and the people at Sea Systems Group that manufacture Mitigator are just top notch.  We are so proud to represent them.”

MitiGator is produced by Sea Systems Group in Clarksville, VA.  Gibson Motorsports is not the only organization that thinks Sea Systems Group is a class act.  On December 11, 2009, Sea Systems Group was awarded the Clarksville Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year Award.

MitiGator was originally developed as an engineered product that was, and continues to be heavily used in military vehicles in all aspects of combat.  The MitiGator is designed to dissipate a blast, thus protecting troops from death.  In 2009 MitiGator expanded into the racing industry to protect race car drivers and their equipment.  In addition, the company is looking at other applications that can use the same technology thus reducing the stresses on workers, athletes, and others from repeated shock.

“This is a product that has truly unlimited applications,” said Chuck Gibson, co-owner of Gibson Motorsports.  “MitiGator came on board last year and outfitted John’s car.  John has reported less fatigue and less low back pain especially following the longer races. We are truly impressed.”

The Team MitiGator™ Offshore Racing boat (#510) is owned and driven by Warren Miller of High Priority Offshore Racing (www.highpriorityosr.com).  Warren began offshore racing in 1998 and started racing OPA Offshore Racing in 2006 with an OPA National Points Title in his class.  Team MitiGator™ Offshore won second place in the 2009 OPA GEICO Triple Crown US Championship in its class and took one checkered flag this year. Join the Facebook “Team MitiGator Offshore Racing” Group to keep in contact with Warren and the crew as they get ready for the 2010 season.

Sea Systems Group sponsors Team MitiGator Racing and is the manufacturer of MitiGator™ products. The MitiGator™ Technology is an engineered cushioning system designed to protect people from hi-speed, hi-impact assaults and to allow them to continue to perform their jobs or enjoy their leisure time.  The MitiGator™ uses patented air control technology working with 4,044 surfaces per square foot to dissipate energy before it is transmitted to the body and thus help alleviate problems.  The shock and vibration dampening features of the MitiGator give a competitive edge by the end of a long race.  These forces, when transmitted to drivers, can impair their comfort, performance, and visual acuity and in extreme cases, even the ability to control the vehicle. Whole body vibration in the range of 4 Hz vertical and 1-2 Hz side to side can create loss of control for vehicle operators. This is a resonant frequency (the range of motion is increased rhythmically with this frequency) and operators can be literally unable to control the vehicle. Find out more at our new MitiGator website at www.MitiGatorinc.com.

The SEAS parking lot is directly behind the Wachovia Bank on Virginia Ave. in Clarksville, VA.  Please come down and meet the Team MitiGator™ drivers.
