Mitigator Ford Fusion Finishes 2nd at New Smyrna Speedway

The Mitigator Ford Fusion in action

The momentum continues to roll for the Mitigator Ford Fusion after a 2nd place effort this past saturday. The 2nd place finishes pushes us up into 2nd place in points for the USAR Pro Cup series. The track was a tough one to get a hold of, but the Gibson Motorsports crew did a great job of choosing the right pit strategy and came home with a 2nd straight top 5 finish. We were able to get some amazing videos throughout the day, which are going to be on our youtube page, so make sure you subscribe so you can catch all of the racing action.

The Live webcast from the track was a overwhelming success. We had over 1000 people log on to the broadcast throughout the day! At the end o the race over 600 people were logged on! There are going to be more live webcasts like this throughout the year. We are going to have the next one at Hickory Motor Speedway on May 1st. However, later in May we have a big event planned at the 2010 off-shore powerboat association’s season opener. We will not only be showcasing the races from the opener, but we will also be showing the benefits of using mitigator in the harsh conditions that the boat racers experience. So don’t forget to check back to Mitigatorinc.com.

Mitigator Ford Fusion finishes third after leading 52 laps at the Racing Electronics 250

I’ve never been accused of sandbagging before, but this weekend the entire Gibson Motorsports crew was. The Mitigator Ford Fusion showed up at the newly rennovated half-mile and was pretty far off the pace on fridays practice session. We could only muster up the 16th best time on fridays practice session. But Saturday was a different story. We showed up Saturday morning and completely went through the car and with help from our crew got the car where she was handeling pretty good in the saturdays practice sessions. We finished practice with the 7th best time and felt like we had a pretty good car.

After a few more adjustments it was time for qualifying.

You can tell from the video that the car was a dream to drive. We ended up qualifying 4th for the event.

Once the green flag fell on the event, we quickly jumped out front and the Mitigator Ford Fusion led the first 52 laps of the event before surrendering the lead to come to pit road for tires and fuel. We tried our best to make a run back to the front and almost pulled it off. We worked our way back to second place with about 25 laps to go. But the car just wasn’t the same as it was earlier in the race. The track had cooled down a little bit and we were just to tight to be able to run with Clay Rogers. We ended up finishing third. But all in all it was a great way to start out the year. Up next the Mitigator Ford will be traveling to New Smyrna Speedway in New Smyrna beach, Florida on April 17th in hopes to continue the momentum.  Don’t Forget to checkout our Extreme Sports Blog where we are going to be posting a couple more videos and pictures from the event.

Gibson Motorsports hits the track for the first time in 2010

It was a cold morning yesterday at Hickory Motor Speedway. But we needed to get out and test the #13 Mitigator Ford Fusion that is going to be used at the Nascar Legends race on March 20th. We ended the 2009 season on such a run of good finishes that we were sad to see it end. But we are hoping that we can carry that momentum into 2010. Our season kicks off March 27th at Gresham Motorsports Park.

Up next is the a test session at Bristol Motor Speedway. Bristol is the world’s fastest half-mile. We are going to be shooting some video from inside the car and from the track to show you a unique perspective of the high banks of Bristol. Check back here on Monday to see the video from the test.

Enjoy the video!

Team Mitigator Signs on for another Year of Supporting Gibson Motorsports

MitiGator commits to 2010 sponsorship of Gibson Motorsports

Gibson Motorsports is excited and proud to announce that MitiGator, the primary sponsor of USA Racing Pro Cup driver, John Gibson during the last half of 2009, has signed on to sponsor John for the 2010 season.

Barbara McKinney, President of Sea Systems Group (SEAS) said “We are pleased to be the primary sponsor of John Gibson Motorsports for 2010.  As we get better acquainted, our relationship with them continues to grow beyond USAR Pro Cup sponsorship.  SEAS and Gibson are jointly working to develop and evaluate innovative new MitiGator products for the motorsports industry.  We have high hopes that “Team MitiGator Racing” and www.mitigatorinc.com will evolve into a new business unit that has an impact on all types of motorsports from asphalt and dirt to off-road and offshore.”

MitiGator is an engineered cushioning system designed to protect people from hi-speed, hi-impact assaults and to allow them to continue to perform their jobs or enjoy their leisure time.  The MitiGator uses patented air control technology working with 4,044 surfaces per square foot to dissipate energy before it is transmitted to the body and thus help alleviate problems.

“We are so excited about MitiGator’s involvement,” said John Gibson.  “The product is fantastic, and the people at Sea Systems Group that manufacture Mitigator are just top notch.  We are so proud to represent them.”

MitiGator is produced by Sea Systems Group in Clarksville, VA.  Gibson Motorsports is not the only organization that thinks Sea Systems Group is a class act.  On December 11, 2009, Sea Systems Group was awarded the Clarksville Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year Award.

MitiGator was originally developed as an engineered product that was, and continues to be heavily used in military vehicles in all aspects of combat.  The MitiGator is designed to dissipate a blast, thus protecting troops from death.  In 2009 MitiGator expanded into the racing industry to protect race car drivers and their equipment.  In addition, the company is looking at other applications that can use the same technology thus reducing the stresses on workers, athletes, and others from repeated shock.

“This is a product that has truly unlimited applications,” said Chuck Gibson, co-owner of Gibson Motorsports.  “MitiGator came on board last year and outfitted John’s car.  John has reported less fatigue and less low back pain especially following the longer races. We are truly impressed.”

You can learn more about MitiGator by going to www.mitigatorinc.com or by visiting the “sponsors” tab of John Gibson’s website: www.johngibsonracing.com.
